About Andrea
I live in a small village just outside Dolgellau, Gwynedd in North Wales, with 3 cats (2 of my own and a recently adopted stray). I have always had cats in my life and seek them out wherever I go! Yes, I am that person you will find crouched down in the street befriending every feline I come across. I am the crazy cat lady giving my 20 Euro meal to a stray cat while on holiday in Greece.
I love the company of cats and find their different personalities fascinating. I love them when they’re shy, cheeky, nosey, sassy and I have a particular soft spot for the chunky love bugs! A rather portly stray cat has just adopted us and he is what I call a ‘cling-on’. He can’t get enough love and attention and likes to snuggle up inside my coat to feel safe. I’ve really enjoyed brushing him every day and getting his coat in tip top condition.
I have spent the last 25 years working as an actor, lecturer in Performing Arts and a workshop leader with groups of young people and adults but decided to train as a cat groomer in 2022. I have always been passionate about animals and even though I became a cat groomer later on in life, I always knew that dedicating my time to helping cats would eventually be what I do full time.

How I Groom
I specialise exclusively in grooming cats - no dogs, which means no lingering doggy odours!
I use products designed specifically for feline care and tailor each grooming session to suit your cat's individual pace, ensuring they feel as relaxed as possible. I treat every cat as if they were my own - because we know they aren’t just pets, they're family!
My focus is always on achieving the best results while prioritising your cat's wellbeing. I take a holistic approach, respecting the unique limits and tolerance of each cat. I never use force, scruffing or other forms of restraint. At times, I may use a towel as a soft barrier or a comfy cone for safety, and if necessary, I might ask for your assistance to hold your cat calmly, especially when removing tight knots from sensitive areas like the tummy.
Whether it's better to groom a cat with the owner present depends on the individual cat’s temperament. Some cats feel more relaxed and reassured when their owner is nearby, which can make the grooming process smoother. On the other hand, some cats may become more anxious or protective with their owner present, making them harder to handle. I find that it's best to assess the cat's behaviour on the day and adjust accordingly. If the owner’s presence causes stress or agitation, a more hands-off approach may be beneficial for a calm and successful grooming session.
Throughout the session, you’ll hear me talking softly to your cat, offering plenty of reassurance and breaks to help keep them comfortable and calm. I always aim to finish the grooming experience on a positive note, whether that means offering treats (with your permission) or providing some Catnip or Valerian as a reward.
Each cat has a unique tolerance level - some even drift off to sleep while being groomed, while others may want to wrap things up quickly. The duration of the groom will depend on how long your cat's tolerance lasts. If time is short, I prioritise essential tasks, such as removing painful knots and mats, rather than focusing solely on appearance. Rest assured, I never rush, and always work at a pace that keeps your cat feeling at ease.
Sometimes grooming sessions might have to be split up for the comfort of your cat and for my safety. On the rare occasion that a cat does not settle into a groom e.g. they are very scared or reactive (showing signs of aggression) I might have to stop the groom and I will only charge you for the part of the groom I have completed. If we decide to try and continue the groom at a later date, it might be beneficial to administer a mild sedative (Gabapentin prescribed by your vet) which can reduce a cat’s aggression. I would always prefer to see the cat first to assess temperament before speaking to your vet.
