Acceptance of Terms & Conditions (T&Cs)
BY BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT YOU ARE AGREEING TO THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, SO PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT.
Variations to the T&Cs may be made from time to time, which we will make clients aware of. Booking an appointment with Kitty Cuts Mobile Cat Grooming constitutes a contract and affirms that you accept all of the conditions as stipulated below.
Within the T&Cs, all references to “you” or “your” denote the Owner, Guardian or Responsible Person of the cat. All References to “we”, “us”, or “our” denote Kitty Cuts Mobile Cat Grooming.
Pricing Quotes
We always provide a quote for grooming based on the information that is given to us about your cat and their requirements. The standard pricing estimates are guidelines and based on the time taken to groom a coat in good condition. If, when the groomer meets your cat, We find that their grooming requirements are different, we will advise you of any extra costs at the beginning of the groom after we fully assess the condition and temperament of your cat. You agree to pay the revised price provided by us on the day.
Deposit & Balance of Payment
To make an appointment, we require a deposit of £25.00. This fee is non-refundable, but it can be moved to a different date provided that 48 hours' notice is given. On the day of your appointment, the deposit will be subtracted from your total payment plus the travel fee. The balance must be paid on the same day the grooming takes place (accepted forms of payment are cash or bank transfer). Bank details will be provided.
Travel Fees
To keep rural visits sustainable, I factor in:
- Fuel and vehicle costs
- Insurance and business overheads
- Travel time (often 2–3 hours round trip)
Travel is shared where possible to keep costs fair. In addition to the grooming charge, travel fees are:
- 1 client → ~£35
- 2 clients → ~£20 each
- 3 clients → ~£12–£15 each
Cancellation or rescheduling appointments
We require at least 48 hours notice, if you wish to cancel or if you need to move your booking to another date. A full reimbursement will be provided for appointments cancelled with a minimum of 48 hours before the scheduled booking.
If you reschedule an appointment with at least 48 hours notice, then your deposit will be automatically rolled over to the new appointment date.
If you cancel or want to move the booking with less than 48 hours notice you will lose your deposit. This is because most bookings are made months in advance and amendments cause disruption to the booking system and ultimately a loss in earnings.
We reserve the right to refuse service for clients who have a history of repeated, late cancellations and / or no shows.
Time Keeping & Missed Appointments
We at Kitty Cuts work to a strict time frame to ensure that every cat client receives ample grooming time and proper care.
On the day of the appointment, you will ensure that your cat is available to groom when the groomer arrives for the appointment. If your cat is an outside cat they need to be inside when the groomer arrives. If your cat is an inside cat, please ensure that they are not hiding. We advise that your cat is prepared for the appointment at least 30 minutes before the allotted time.
If you or your cat are not present when the groomer arrives for your appointment, We will make attempts to contact you by telephone and wait for 15 minutes. After this time, we have the right to refuse to carry out the groom on welfare grounds. Rushing a groom could lead to unnecessary stress and possible injury. The appointment will be considered as being cancelled by you and your deposit will be non-refundable and mileage charges will still apply.
Cat Health
You agree to notify us of any signs of illness or injury or recent changes in behaviour as soon as possible prior to the grooming appointment. We will not be held responsible for any pre-existing medical conditions or medical conditions or injuries discovered during grooming. You are responsible for all veterinary medical expenses.
Elderly, Infirm, Overweight or Young Pets Disclaimer
A full groom can take in excess of 2 hours and can be physically demanding as well as stressful for some animals. Whilst we at Kitty Cuts make every effort to provide additional support to elderly, infirm, overweight or young pets, We cannot guarantee that your pet will be able to adequately support themselves for the duration of the groom. We reserve the right to stop the grooming process if we feel that there is an increased risk of injury or any other health issues.
Vaccinations
We at Kitty Cuts Mobile Cat Grooming take no responsibility for any pet that may contract any of the vaccinated diseases. We may ask for proof of vaccination and veterinary information which must be provided.
Fleas and Parasites
To prevent the risk of transferring flea infestations between home visits, it is essential that your cat is flea-free.
If fleas, ticks, or other external parasites are discovered during the groom, a mandatory deep cleaning surcharge of £10–£20 will be applied to cover the additional sanitation required.
If any contagious condition, such as ringworm, is suspected or identified, the grooming session will be stopped immediately in the interest of health and safety. Full or partial grooming fees may still apply.
Grooming Area
We require a space inside your home for grooming that offers good lighting, a nearby plug socket, enough room for the groomer and their table and can be secured by closing doors to prevent your cat from hiding or escaping. We will inform you of this requirement during the booking process, and it is your responsibility to ensure the space is suitable for the grooming session. We’re happy to suggest suitable rooms and provide advice where needed.
Reactive / Aggressive Cats
You are obliged to inform us of any known aggressive behaviours your cat may have towards humans or other animals. Specifically, you must inform us if you have been advised by previous groomer(s) of any of the aforementioned behaviours. Although we at Kitty Cuts cater for cats who exhibit aggressive behaviour, it is important that you inform us of any such behaviours so that we can adapt 0ur approach to the groom accordingly, ensuring the safety of us and your cat.
Completing the Groom
We cannot guarantee the completion of a groom during a visit. If the groomer is unable to handle your cat safely (e.g. due to reactive or aggressive behaviour, signs of stress or frantic behaviour), we may refuse, stop, or cancel the service at any time for the health and wellbeing of us and your cat. You will be required to pay for the services that have been performed up until that point.
If your cat is too reactive to groom, We might recommend that you consult with your vet about the use of a mild sedative, such as Gabapentin. If prescribed, it might be possible to complete the grooming session at a later date. We may suggest that services be carried out over multiple sessions, potentially at additional cost to you, which will be discussed thoroughly with you at the time. Alternatively, we may advise that your cat is groomed by a vet under sedation.
We will always place a cat’s health, welfare and safety above adherence to a particular style. Previously discussed grooming styles may not be completed due to the cat’s temperament, behaviour and/or condition on that day.
Promotional Materials
We will from time to time take photos and/or videos of cats before, during, and/or after the grooming appointment to be utilised as advertisement, including on social media and our website, identifying your cat by name (but not identifying you or linking you to the cat unless you request it). All the media files are property of Kitty Cuts Mobile Cat Grooming. Should you wish to opt out of photographs or videos of your pet being used for promotional purposes, please email us to advise us of this decision.
Insurance & DBS
We are insured to provide a mobile cat grooming service by Petplan Sanctuary and our groomer is DBS checked. We can provide evidence of these if requested.
Disclaimer: Owner Assistance
If an owner chooses to assist during the grooming process by holding or restraining their cat, they do so at their own risk. While all necessary safety measures will be in place to ensure the well-being of both the cat and the owner, it is important to understand that cats can be unpredictable and may scratch, bite, or react unexpectedly. Kitty Cuts cannot accept responsibility for any injuries sustained by owners who choose to assist during the grooming process. By offering to help, the owner acknowledges and accepts this risk.
Disclaimer: Matting & Pelting
By booking an appointment you agree fully to all of following: Kitty Cuts Mobile Cat Grooming practices humanity over vanity. If We are presented with a neglected coat on arrival at your house and believe that, in our professional opinion, it is kinder to remove the coat than it is to de-mat this will be done in accordance with The Animal Welfare Act 2006.
If there is more than 5% matting and / or more than 20 minutes of de-matting work, then your cat’s fur will be humanely clipped short, if we have assessed that it is possible to do so. If we are not willing to do this, then we will endeavour to refer you to a local vet. The Animal Welfare Act 2006 states that ‘it is an offence to cause unnecessary stress or suffering to an animal which includes prolonged de-matting work as this can be painful and detrimental to the welfare of the cat’. At Kitty Cuts Mobile Cat Grooming, we will only attempt to de-mat 5% of your cat’s fur as stated above, for example a 50p piece sized mat behind each ear, armpit and groin area.
If You are present at the groom, then we aim to discuss this with you on the day, prior to the groom commencing. However, whilst we make every effort to identify this as part of the pre-groom consultation and coat assessment, there may be occasions where the degree of matting cannot be fully identified until the groom is underway. If you are not present at the groom, then we will make every effort to contact you. In the event that we are not able to contact you, we may decide to carry out the shave down for the welfare of your cat.
In the event that your cat needs a partial or full clip due to a matted or pelted coat, you should be aware that irritation may occur from the shaving process and could result in reddened skin, soreness or other skin problems following the procedure. This can happen because the cat’s skin has not been able to ‘breathe’ properly, due to matting. All clips may also uncover nicks, scabs, cuts, fungal or bacterial issues, pre-existing irritation, fleas or other potential problems. Occasionally, small nicks to the skin may occur due to tight proximity of matted fur to the skin or sudden movement by your cat. Any personal requests that have been discussed or agreed upon prior to the groom, may not be carried out as the welfare of the cat will be the main priority. Work of this type will incur an increase in price as the wear and tear on the clippers will be taken into consideration and you must agree to pay all costs for the groom, even if we are unable to fully complete the task.
You need to be aware that shaving a cat’s coat comes with a risk of change in fur and can result in a structural change to the hair, which may result in colour or texture variation upon regrowth, patchy regrowth or even failure to regrow. We recommend consulting your vet in these circumstances. If the matting is significant / very close to the skin, We will clip under mats with electric clippers to remove them. We will assess each case individually and discuss options with you.
Matting can be prevented by daily grooming and we will be more than happy to show you the correct techniques to do this and set up a regular grooming programme for you, which either you and / or a regular grooming professional can carry out.
You need to be aware that if hair is clipped away due to matting or styling, your outdoor cat could become unwell if the weather is cold. You are advised to keep your cat warm / indoors / clothed whilst the re-growth occurs. You also need to be aware that your cat will be open to greater UV exposure until the fur regrows.
Please also be aware that shaving your cat will dramatically alter its appearance, with hair clipped very close to the skin. You need to be aware that other cats in your household or neighbourhood may not recognise your shaved cat, and Kitty Cuts Mobile Cat Grooming is not responsible for any behavioural problems that result from any grooming procedures.
We do not provide a 'lion cut' unless it is in the best interests of the cat, such as the coat being pelted or on advice from your veterinarian. Additional charges may be incurred due to the wear on equipment, additional products used as well as time and skill needed to remove matting.
Lastly, if your cat does develop any skin irritations following the clipping, any resulting fees are the responsibility of you, the cat owner.
